The Workshops
FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT: ACA BILL OF RIGHTS
The ACA Bill or Rights is a synopsis of the many ways our lives become more functional once we have worked our ACA program for a while. Well, what if we could look up how to behave functionally and just do that! That is what the ‘ACA Bill or Rights’ provides. If you’d like to read ahead, just search “ACA Bill of Rights”. Try it out and bring your stories. Two GOLD stars for everyone with a story!
WE’RE NOT SO DIFFERENT,
YOU & I
In the act of sharing our emotional baggage anonymously or openly, we become aligned with the idea that we're all in this together. As fellow travelers, we discover that we're good enough even when we aren't necessarily feeling it. This activity is inspired by a classroom activity that went viral due to its impactful healing properties.
INNER CHILD STORYTIME
Come as you are. Invite your inner child to sit back, take a breath, and listen to a few gentle children’s stories with loving messages that soothe us within and calm anxiety.
This session is often a retreat favorite where messages of being enough ring true to each heart.
TOOLS OF RECOVERY: AN OVERVIEW OF THE ACA 12 STEPS
Are you seeing the transformation you’re looking for in your life? Does working The Steps feel scary? Join us as we break the 12 Steps down into a three-part journey and examine them through the lens of searching for treasure rather than digging up dirt.
MIND & HEART:
CREATE OPTIMAL WELLBEING THROUGH BREATH
ACAers will be introduced to the significant connection between the heart and the brain and guided to support their personal well being through mindful awareness of thoughts and emotions. This session will include a guided, centering breathwork exercise to help anchor and embody the connection.
THOUGHTS & FEELINGS
Although many folks often confuse thoughts and feelings, they are different entities. In essence, thoughts are mental constructs and feelings are emotional states of being. In this session, we’ll explore the characteristics of each and be introduced to methods of both distinguishing and expressing them.
BILATERAL DRAWING EXPRESSION
Using both hands to draw connects the left and right halves of the brain. Expressing your inner world externally through bilateral drawing helps us make connections between thinking and feeling. Let’s take an inventory of things that are in the way of grounding ourselves, grow in self regulation, and understanding.
BURNING BOWL
Let go of whatever may be holding you back or weighing you down by engaging in this symbolic process of writing your intention on a piece of paper and giving it up to the fire.
What’s holding you back? What are you giving up? Whom can you forgive? Each person has their own experience in this workshop, writing down whatever you want on a piece of paper and offering it to fire to release it and set you free
